About the Recipe

Get ready for a comfort food classic! With 4 simple ingredients, you can make a delicious quick and easy creamy alfredo sauce. This homemade American Italian pasta dish can be whipped up so easily. Once you make this basic white sauce from scratch, you will never want to buy alfredo sauce from a store again.

Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp or 57g Butter

  • 3 Cloves or 13g Garlic

  • 11/2 cups or 375ml Heavy Cream

  • 1 1/2 cups or 80g Parmesan Reggiano

  • 1/4 tsp White Pepper (optional)

  • Dash of salt (optional)

  • 10oz or 235g Fettuccine (dry)

Preparation

1. Start with the prep work: grate the parmesan and mince the garlic.

2. To a high sided sauté pan over low – medium heat add the butter and gently melt it.   Then add the garlic and slowly simmer for 2 -3 minutes to gradually infuse it’s flavor.

3. Pour in the heavy cream and slowly heat on low for 3 – 5 minutes without simmering.  Once the mixture starts to steam add the parmesan cheese in batches.   Heat on low for 3 – 5 minutes frequently stirring.  Once the sauce becomes thick and coats the back of a spoon add a dash of white pepper.  Give the sauce a taste and add salt if needed.   At this point the sauce is done and ready to be served.  If you would like to add additional ingredients like cooked chicken or broccoli it can be added now. Or, you can add the cooked fettuccine and serve as is.
